Oh, Amber, I have no idea, but I have a cute story. I came downstairs today to find Sam battering Benjamin over the head with a Hot Wheel (he was laughing, but it's still unacceptable). After her time out and a stern talking to, I told her to "march over there and give Gus a hug and tell him you are sorry." Well, my sassy 2 year old got off the couch and MARCHED, literally, all the way over to her brother. We're going to start calling her Amelia Bedelia.
Is your two year old the one hitting? or being hit? I think that you have to explain that we need to respect our own and other people's bodies. And, that whoever is being hit, loves the "hitee" so much that it really makes them sad when they get hit. A little time away (or whatever is that child's "currency"), and then a big apology and a hug.
I am simply a mom, but turns out it isn't that simple. So here I am trying to make this mothering thing to be everything that I want it to be.
I have two little boys, a wonderful husband and a happy heart.
